Ukrainian defence tech startups Himera and Zvook to receive grants of up to $100,000 from Google

Among the 30 projects receiving funding from the Google for Startups Ukraine Support Fund are three defence tech startups
Google has announced 30 Ukrainian startups that will receive grant funding through the Google for Startups Ukraine Support Fund. This initiative, aimed at supporting tech entrepreneurs in Ukraine, this time includes projects working in AI, quantum computing, education, healthcare, and cybersecurity. Among the grant recipients are two defence tech projects — Himera and Zvook.

Himera Radios specialises in the production of secure tactical radio communication systems for Ukraine’s Defence Forces. Its flagship product, the G1 Pro radio, employs a pseudo-random frequency-hopping system and AES-256 encryption, making it virtually impossible to intercept or decode conversations. HIMERA recently secured its first international contract and is already supplying radios to the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Special Operations Forces.

Zvook is a Ukrainian startup developing a network of acoustic sensors to detect airborne objects, including drones and missiles. The company produces both networked and portable sensors for aerial monitoring. Networked devices can determine a target’s trajectory, coordinates, altitude and speed.

Google is also providing funding to the online robotics academy Nanit Robot, which offers courses on building drones.

The Google for Startups Ukraine Support Fund is a program created to support Ukrainian tech ventures. It offers non-dilutive funding of up to $100,000 for each selected startup, as well as mentorship from Google and access to its products. Participants are also eligible for additional Google Cloud credits of up to $350,000.

In 2022, Google provided $5 million in funding to Ukrainian startups through this initiative. In 2024, the company announced a new $10 million fund to be distributed by the end of 2025.
