Ukrainian defence-tech startup Himera, known for producing radio-electronic warfare (EW)-resistant radios, has announced the delivery of its communication systems to the U.S. Air Force.
The company revealed that in the fall of 2024, it successfully sold its tactical radios outside Ukraine for the first time, specifically to the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL).
“They decided to test our product and evaluate whether it makes sense to implement our technology on a larger scale within the U.S. military,” the company stated.
Recently, the company announced a partnership with Quantropi, a firm specializing in quantum-secure data encryption technologies. This collaboration aims to integrate post-quantum encryption into Himera’s communication systems, expanding the potential of their tactical radios in global defense markets.
The partnership with Quantropi Inc. includes the integration of quantum-secure encryption into Himera’s G1 PRO tactical radios, R1 repeaters, B1 autonomous repeaters, and E1 internet extenders. Under the agreement, Quantropi serves as the exclusive distributor of Himera products in the U.S. and Canada, with the right to promote them in select NATO and allied markets.
Himera’s tactical radios, battle-tested in the most intense defensive and offensive operations in Ukraine, are designed to meet the needs of modern military forces. The entire suite of products is equipped with AES-256 encryption, MESH/MANET networking, and frequency-hopping capabilities to counteract electronic warfare threats. With the integration of Quantropi’s QiSpace platform, Himera’s communication systems will benefit from quantum-secure encryption and high-entropy quantum random number generation. This enhancement significantly strengthens cryptographic security, resilience against electronic warfare, and protection against interception and jamming.
